Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists operate across many sectors of the Australian visual arts industry. In dealing with Indigenous Australian art, artists and communities, an understanding of the rights, obligations and appropriate practices is essential.
Within Australia there are specialised programs and organisations that aim to provide targeted service that meets the needs of Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists. These services are in addition to those offered through mainstream programs.
A first place to start is here under Useful Links. You also can do a web search using the term Indigenous Arts Officer. These officers are usually employed within departments and organisations to provide service to Indigenous artists and can be a great source of up to date information. Additionally, you can look up your local state/territory government arts department. Again, some of these have Indigenous arts programs and officers.
