The organisations, businesses and government departments that employ art workers are many and varied. They range from the more obvious options such as museums and galleries and art and craft service organisations like NAVA, through festivals, community and youth centres, government cultural development departments, art and craft centres etc. The sorts of job titles include; art centre manager, art co-ordinator for public art commissions, artistic director, audience development manager, collections manager, community cultural development worker, conservator, creative producer, cultural planning and development manager, curator, education officer, equipment and facilities co-ordinator, event manager, exhibition designer, exhibition manager, gallery assistant, heritage adviser, installation officer, project manager, registrar, researcher, teacher, visitor services officer etc.

Many art organisations and state/territory arts departments also list job opportunities on their websites and in their journals and e-bulletins. Some of these you can access for free, for others you need to be a member, like Arts Hub. Australia also has a few art employment agencies. One is Artworkers in Queensland and another is ArtSource in Western Australia. Arts@Work in Tasmania also operates a website with employment opportunities.
Some job opportunities are advertised through the usual print advertising means i.e. daily newspapers and art, and related industries like architecture and specialist journals.
