Export Regulations

Buyers who intend to export items of art and craft overseas should be aware that there is protection for some items under the Protection of Movable Cultural Heritage Act 1986. Permits are required for the permanent or temporary export of objects important to Australia for ethnological, archaeological, historical, literary, artistic, scientific or technological reasons. Some objects cannot be exported at all.
