Major auction houses employ professional visual and decorative art valuers who will estimate the current price and assess the credentials of the work. Check the Yellow Pages telephone directory using search words such as ‘valuers’ and ‘fine art’.
Information about approved valuers for the Cultural Gifts Program is available from the Program's website . This website also has a Code of Conduct for the valuers who are involved in this program.
Some state galleries run 'appraisal days' when you can take your work into the gallery and have it valued. Contact your local state gallery to see if they offer this service.
