Nestled in the heart of the glorious, World-Heritage-listed Blue Mountains, in a massive 3-storey superannuated Bank Building, sits the delightfully eccentric books and antiques shop known as Mr Pickwick's Fine Old Books and Antiques. It contains some 60,000 books in all, ranging from rare and arcane leather-bound antiquities through extensive sections on Art, Architecture and Literature to a virtual second-bookshop upstairs containing some 4,000 Penguins and a further 10,000 paperbacks and cheaper editions.

Messrs Berkelouw are Australia's largest and longest established rare, out-of-print, secondhand and new booksellers. For six generations, the Berkelouw family has traded in rare and antiquarian books.

Our Leichhardt store is spacious and cosmopolitan. Under the shade of the building's front awnings, the busy Berkelouw Cafe serves fantastic coffee and is one of Norton Street's most popular meeting places. Inside the bookstore, the downstairs area features an extensive selection of both new and rare books. The second floor boasts thousands of second hand books, CDs and the cosy couches of the Booklounge Cafe. Philosophy and poetry nights are regularly held in the cafe, and special events featuring prominent thinkers and writers occur monthly.
