Artist Statement
Emilia Fernandes, was born in Portugal, and migretad to Australia in the end of 1987. Showing artistic talent even at an early age, skilled in the textiles industry, running her own clothes business in Portugal, and having worked as a Manager, and Fashion consultante, in Australia. In 2001 after a trip to Portugal, Emilia's dicided to become a painter, to fulfill her life dream. " The necessity i have to paint is something so complex that not even i can explain." " I believe that everything that happens in life has a reason for being." " Art has a huge part in my life, and with my paintings i can quell part of the internal suffering, i attempt to hide with pleasantries with what life offers." " A lot of the time there is that fear of failure,and it's hard for me to convey all of my own sentiment." "To paint only to serve the society is a spiritual dilema, every artist should paint for themselves regardless of the conventions that may be trampled." " Every artist should have their success, if only to nourish their own creativity." She has done, the Dipoloma of Arts/ Visual Arts, and she is thinking to take a degree in Fine Arts.
