Artist Statement
Danielle Freakley grew up in Perth and now lives and works in Melbourne. Her works are often annoying, awkward and demanding on the audience. She is a leach and often uses her audience to give her information to process back to them. The audience then becomes the most substancial part of the work forcing her to evaporate, reappear and develop some kind of a disability/ability in order to intake of the personalities of her audience, popular culture and the social environment which she attempts to engage with.
Examples
She lives a project called "The Quote Generator" where she speaks in everyday conversational quotes for a period of three years in three phases.

She has directed an exhibtion where artists were made to stand, sit, lie infront of their works. Artists and works were only seen in conjunction with their works. It poses the question how can we seperate the work from the artist? Can we be swayed like artworks because we like the artist who made it or swayed to hate an artwork because we hate the artist? Established artists, art students, community artists, highly commercial artists, highly conceptual contemporary arts, street artists, craft oriented, indigenous artists, graphic artists, minimal and performance artists were shown together. Creating an uneven tense space where personalities and looks of the artists were seen at one with their works. Cliches were to be accepted and denied, unspoken judgements were made directly.
