Artist Statement

A visual image as a representation of a person, object, activity, or place, has the capacity to construct and communicate significant meaning for an individual. The artistic expression of an image can become a vehicle of communication, a visual language with which to better understand and explore ourselves as human beings. I like to explore the personal meaning of images and the significance they have in an individuals life through experiences, memories, emotions, imagination, and the symbols they represent. This can become part of a persons journey of identity and sense of place within a context of culture and society in the world. I endeavour to advance critical and creative concepts, articulating the relevance of contemporary art as a visual language that is able to communicate in a meaningful and positive way within society.
