Artist Statement

My interests lie in the area of installation, design and architecture. I create site-specific works that navigate the existing architecture of the site whilst exploring the collapse of one space into another; sculpture into architecture. I look at how architecture can be reconsidered to reinstate a relationship with built matter that directly connects and is informed by everyday human experiences. On a visual level I am interested in the pure physical qualities of my materials. Diverging from their original purpose materials can be used as powerful design elements, elevating the mundane to the extraordinary. I purposefully elect common household materials like masking tape, Gafa, office paper and Blu tac to create fantastical environments that are informed by constructivist design and vernacular architectural methods. If you would like any further information please email me at carobota@yahoo.com
