Artist Statement
I am interested in seeing how ideological constructs of consumerism and propaganda can be subverted to produce objects that engage ideas of the delusions of greed. These works attempt to address issues around consumption, identity and the commodification of humans. Through the making of hand-built ceramic objects in the form of enlarged babies in dialogue with a base form (found or made associating objects), the work aims to investigate the tensions and contradictions that act as an accidental by-product of consumer ideology. Recently selected to Hatched: 2010 National Graduate Show, Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts.
