Artist Statement
My works combine my skills as a photographer, story teller, journalist, radio broadcaster, writer and video editor to create hybrid works between documentary photography, oral story telling, videography, visual and performing arts. Outcome of my practice range from photographic documentation of people, events and performances, dvd works, radio programs, projection work and live performances. My market ranges from arts festivals, galleries, radio broadcasters, print media, communities with stories to tell, and anyone who requires photographs. I conduct workshops and seminars, and when in a position of teaching, prefer to collaborate create work with the participants/students rather than conventional classroom teaching. My works often deal with migrant and or cross cultural issues, especially in the area of Australia and Japan as well as in issues of identitly of minority communities. I often collaborate with composers, musicians, dancers, videographers, sound engineers, and computer programmers.
