Artist Statement
My greatest interest is in investigating the human body and portraiture. I had the privilege of living in france between june 2004 and september 2005 and am currently living and painting in the inner eastern suburbs of Sydney. The large nudes shown here are from the exhibition I held at Blank_Space in feb/march 2006. In this group I tried to present individual nudes who could somehow exist independently of an obvious engagement with the viewer. I am currently working on a new body of figurative paintings (not quite as exposed as the last). This December and January I'll have the wonderful privilage of being hung as one of the finalselection for the inaugural Kilgour Prize being held at Newcastle Region Gallery.
