Artist Statement
Moria Doropoulos has exhibited extensively - nationally and internationally for over ten years. Since 1993 she has been employed in the Curtin University School of Art as technician and in various lecturing positions, and is an Executive Committee Member of the Textile Exchange Project. At the end of 2000 Moira produced and exhibited a solo exhibition with the assistance of a New Works grant from ArtsWA. 'Transitions - Unravelling Tradition' an exhibition in two parts, expanded on Moira's exploration of history, genealogy, tradition, ritual, and identity. The presentation of the work, simultaneously in two very different gallery spaces, further explored the interpretations of concept and multiplicity and meanings possible when creating, presenting and viewing artwork.
