Artist Statement
My perception of the world is formed from an amorphous mass of impressions that cannot easily be separated from one another. No method of communication ever seems to be sufficient to translate our non-orderly, first-hand experiences of the world into a single system of expression.
Much of my recent work is a reflection on the conventional systems we use to sort, classify and untangle one sensation from another, often featuring a grid, although one that is in some way disrupted, suggesting elements that cannot properly be contained by the system in which they sit.
It is the fragility and inadequacy of systems in general to convey the complexity of our inner lives that are the current driving force for my art-making.
