Artist Statement
My practice is primarily sculputre and installation that combine abstraction with organice forms, the hand crafted and the assisted readymade. My art oscillates between painting and sculpture, figuration and abstraction, craft and concept.
My specific conceptyual concersn include investigations into the exploratory, didactice, funtional and sensual possibilities of painting and the cross-cultural relationships between the Indigenous and the non-Indigenous in contemporary art.
My visual language draws from abstract expressionism, surrealism, minimalism and traditional First Nation imagery and worldview.
Recently, my practice has included photography and has developed more into the political, social and cultural areas of the Indigenous in contemporary art.
