Artist Statement
Somaya Langley creates sound and new media works for a range of spaces including galleries, public spaces, online environments and wearable performance experiences. In both physical and virtual installation spaces she constructs new worlds for audience exploration.
Her work addresses current sociopolitical issues including alienation within city environments, individualism in public spaces and invasive technologies. Conceptually she focusses on perceptions and emotions of the individual and society.
