Windmill Trust Scholarship for Regional NSW Artists

The Windmill Trust Scholarship supports regional NSW professional artists who need financial assistance in advancing their career. 

  • Closing date: 28 May
  • Notification: Two months following the closing date
  • A scholarship of up to $5,000 is awarded annually

Applications must submitted online by the above due date. Printed applications will not be accepted.

About

The Windmill Trust Scholarship was established in memory of Penny Meagher, artist and a former Director of the Macquarie Galleries.

   

Eligibility

  • You must be working broadly in the areas of painting, printmaking, sculpture or drawing.
  • You must be a professional artist who needs financial assistance in advancing your career.
  • You must be an Australian citizen and a NSW resident.
  • You must have lived in regional NSW (more than 70 km from the Sydney GPO) for a minimum of 5 years continuously.

  • To apply for this grant you will need to submit an online application.

  • Applications for this Scholarship must be prepared and submitted by the artist, not a third party.   
   

Support Material

As part of your online application you will need to upload the following support material:

  • your Artist CV, no more than 1 x A4 pages in length and saved as a .pdf file*;
  • 10 images supporting your art practice. These should be uploaded in one PowerPoint file, one image per slide. Click here to download a template; 
  • an Image List, listing the titles of your images in the order they appear in the PowerPoint file. This should be saved as a .pdf file*. Click here to view an example Image List;
  • a moving image file (if applicable to your practice), saved as an MP4 file;
  • if applicable, a letter of support from the host organisation, saved as .pdf files*;
  • a tax invoice/s if you are registered for GST or a “Statement by a Supplier” if you do not have an ABN (either saved as a .pdf file*). See Stage 6 for further information. Note: if you do not have an ABN or provide a “Statement by a Supplier”, and you are successful with the application, under PAYG, NAVA is required to withhold 46.5% of the grant and send it to the Australian Taxation Office.

*How to create a .pdf file from a Word document:

  • In the Word document go to File and click ‘Save As’
  • Select the drop down menu next to ‘Format’ and click ‘PDF’
  • Click the ‘Save’ button

The Windmill Trust Scholarship is administered by the National Association for the Visual Arts (NAVA).
