The 2010 Art Monthly Australia Emerging Arts Writer's Award is calling for entries in 2 categories, Open and Student. The theme for this year is Art+Community. For more information refer to the application form.

The Fletcher Jones art prize is an acquisitive painting prize, conducted by the Geelong Gallery on a biennial basis. The prize continues the tradition of the Geelong Contemporary Art Prize and is worth $30,000.

New Work – emerging grants support the creation of new work by emerging craftspeople, designers, media artists, visual artists and arts writers with less than five years professional experience.
DEADLINE: 16 April

The ArtStart program provides financial assistance to recent creative arts graduates who are committed to establishing a career as a professional artist. Graduates who plan to earn income or gain employment as a professional artist in the visual arts, hybrid and media arts, performing arts, literature or in community arts and cultural development are invited to apply.

JUMP directly supports the career development of artists aged 18-30, and in the first five years of their professional practice, by facilitating mentorships with professional artists regarded highly in their chosen artform. The program is supported by the Australia Council for the Arts and managed nationally by Youth Arts Queensland.

The Inter-Arts Office of the Australia Council for the Arts will support new interdisciplinary research and creative development projects with grants of $75,000. The ArtLab initiative is for rigorous experimentation and collaboration between artists from multiple disciplines to explore new artistic practices.

The next Alice Prize will be held 1 May- 6 June 2010. The Prize is now $20,000 (acquisitive) plus 4 weeks residency in Alice Springs. Entries close 30 October 2009 and selections take place in November 2009.

The Australia Council for the Arts has teamed up with ABC Radio National’s collaborative online artspace, Pool to invite primary and secondary schools across the country to take part in the inaugural Venice Biennale Australian Schools Art Project.

The Australian Academy of the Humanities is calling for applications to the International Science Linkages - Humanities and Creative Arts (ISL-HCA) Programme, funded by the Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research (DIISR) to support international collaborative research activities in the humanities and creative arts.

Theme of ‘Communities’. Award supported by Magnum Photos and HP. Winner receives $10,000 USD grant and sponsor equipment. Participants worldwide can submit their entry on the website.
