NAVA warmly congratulates a past board member of NAVA, Professor Ted Snell from WA, who has been awarded an AM (General Division) in the Queens Birthday Honour List.
This recognised his contribution to the visual arts as an academic, artist, commentator and administrator, to professional organisations, and as a mentor of young artists. Ted is professor of contemporary art and dean of art at the John Curtin Gallery, Curtin University of Technology, Perth. Currently he holds the position of chair of the Visual Arts Board of the Australia Council.

He also has been the chair of several other art organisations: Artbank; Asialink Visual Arts Advisory Committee; and the Australian Council of University Art and Design Schools.
Ted has been a practising visual artist since 1968 with work shown in exhibitions throughout Australia. In addition he has curated many exhibitions and published several books and catalogues, being shortlisted twice for the Western Australian Premier's Book Award.
