NAVA contributed a submission to the Federal government’s review of the national innovation system. The submission argued that that the arts make a major contribution to the economy and recommended an inclusive definition of innovation, which embraces culture, arts and creativity, as well as science, technology and business. “A national innovation system should be flexible,” it said, “allowing room to explore new concepts and new forms that may not even be imagined by policy makers as they design government programs. Innovation programs should allow room for experimentation and failure.”
