Synergy the working together of two things to produce an effect greater than the sum of their individual effects

2013

Synergy Applications will accepted from April 8 - 15 May 2013. You will be able to download the application form from 7 April 2013.

Synergy Overview

Synergy is an incubator program for artists established by NAVA. It aims to enable artists to gain practical skills and knowledge for forming and growing a sustainable business that will thrive in the competitive market of the arts. The program is delivered through a five-stages over 8 weeks.

Synergy aims to create an environment that is enabling, supportive and valuing of the arts and creative industries. It will assist artists in developing strong and viable relationships between the arts and other commercial sectors with the aim of opening up new opportunities and longer-term career pathways.

The Program

This is an opportunity to undertake something that is challenging, focused on developing an artist’s skills, their career and new opportunities for their personal and professional development.

Synergy will be delivered through five developmental activities for artists, including online and facilitated learning, over an intensive 8 week period.

Artists will be required to devote 3 - 6 hours a week, online and in person, to complete the full program and truly engage with new learning outcomes and skills development.

The program revolves around the development of a project or idea that the artist wishes to develop, therefore it is important to have the initial concept ready at application stage.

The program includes:

  1. 1 program establishment session (2 hours) with all participants and business leaders
  2. 7 week online learning course
  3. 8 weeks of one-on-one leadership and business/project development advice (4 physical and 3 virtual sessions)
  4. 3 professional development events (focusing on government, philanthropy, business and social enterprise)
  5. Final ‘Pitch Day’ presenting to a board for feedback.
